I’m considering doing ground travel to a place not too far away from here. Air travel is too expensive (especially since my trip won’t be too far into the future) so I’m considering going by train or even by bus (train is preferred.)
How do I go about searching for travel fare? I’m hoping there is a site similar to Priceline or Travelocity that deals with ground travel of this sort.
DETAILS: I’m hoping to travel a round-trip vacation between Portland, Oregon and Calgary, Alberta (Canada, of course). I’ll be travelling sometime this month.
Once again, I’m looking for help with finding places to get trainfare (or anything with ground travel) be it a Priceline-similar site or anything. I just need a way to find and compare prices for travelfare. Any hints, ideas, suggestions? Any help is much appreciated!

LONDON, United Kingdom, 13 July 2009 — Starting today, MTV audiences around the world will see a new music video that aims to raise awareness about sex trafficking. Featuring the rock band The Killers, the video is an exclusive collaboration between UNICEF, MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) and the US Agency for International Development.
The track, Goodnight, Travel Well, is from the album Day & Age. The video is the second in a series of music video collaborations that highlight the danger and impact of human trafficking.
The series launched last year with an award-winning film – produced by MTV EXIT that featured the Radiohead single All I Need.
“We are deeply shocked and appalled that women and children are forced into such exploitative situations, said a spokesperson for The Killers. We hope that through MTV’s efforts, and this powerful video, millions of people across the world learn about this tragic form of modern-day slavery.”
The video for Goodnight, Travel Well has the potential to reach more than 500 million households in 168 countries.
There is almost no country in the world now that isnt affected by human trafficking in some way, said UNICEF Chief of Child Protection Susan Bissell. The statistics are staggering. More than 1.2 million children are being trafficked each year and nearly 80 per cent of all trafficking is for sexual exploitation, and the most at risk are girls.
We see this music video as a powerful way to reach out and raise awareness among young people, across borders and across language barriers, she added.
The Goodnight, Travel Well video was directed by film and music video veteran David Slade, in collaboration with the renowned production company Anonymous Content. The creative concept was developed by the Australian advertising agency CRC, with support from the UK music consultancy Huge Music.
The video provides insight into the realities of trafficking, with a particular focus on the trafficking of children and adolescents into forced prostitution.

How many travel days it take astronauts to travel from Earth to the moon?
About 3 days between leaving an orbit around Earth and settling into an orbit around the moon.
After launch on Saturn V SA-504 on July 16, 1969 from pad 39A of Kennedy Space Center, Apollo 11 entered Earth orbit. After 1 1/2 Earth orbits, the S-IVB stage was re-ignited at 16:16:16 UT for a translunar injection burn of 5 minutes, 48 seconds putting the spacecraft on course for the moon. The CSM separated from the S-IVB stage containing the LM33 minutes later, turned around and docked with the LM at 16:56:03 UT. About an hour and 15 minutes later the S-IVB stage was injected into heliocentric orbit. During translunar coast a color TV transmission was made from Apollo 11 and on July 17 a 3-second mid-course correction burn of the main engine was performed. Lunar orbit insertion was achieved on July 19 at 17:21:50 UT by a retrograde firing of the main engine for 357.5 seconds while the spacecraft was behind the moon and out of contact with Earth. A later 17 second burn circularized the orbit. On July 20 Armstrong and Aldrin entered the LM for final checkout. At 18:11:53 the LM and CSM separated. After a visual inspection by Collins, the LM descent engine fired for 30 seconds at 19:08 UT, putting the craft into a descent orbit with a closest approach 14.5 km above the moon’s surface. At 20:05 the LM descent engine fired for 756.3 seconds and descent to the lunar surface began

I am travelling to Syndey this weeked for a holiday from Brisbane. Should I get travel insurance? I have private health insurance. I don’t think it is necessary. I have had travel insurance before but this was for overseas travel.
One major thing that your health insurance won’t cover though is problems with the airline/flight. For example, one trip from Melbourne – Gold Coast couldn’t take off because of flooding on the Gold Coast. All that the airline could offer was a flight 2 days later or a credit. My travel insurance picked up the difference (about $350 extra) to change to a different airline and fly into Brisbane later that day.
Other things to consider, if you get sick while you’re away or even before you are due to go and you can’t fly on the day you have booked, if you don’t give 24 hours notice you won’t be able to change your date on discounted tickets and you then have to forfeit your ticket and buy a new one for when you are well enough. Travel insurance would cover this.
Mind you, there are many people out there who don’t take insurance for domestic trips, I guess it comes down to whether you have to money to cover it if something goes wrong….
