I am traveling to China. I have been searching for airfares online. Can travel agencies get you cheaper fares? If so, how much cheaper? If possible, please recommend a travel agency that you have used before and feel that they got you a good deal. Thanks in advance!

It depends because sometimes they can because they buy tickets in bulk quantity so they get a discount. However to get those really cheap tickets, you may not get the miles added onto your frequent flier account as I found out the last time I went to an Asian travel agency. I would suggest you look on-line at the different airline prices and then go to an Asian travel agency to find out how much a ticket would cost. As for what travel agency, it depends on where you live. My friend uses a travel agency located in Chicago. They usually book tickets using United. If you type in ABN travel, the internet should give you their telephone number. You want to speak to Natalie since she speaks English. The other guy there does not. There is also Gateway Travel which has numerous offices throughout the US. You can try typing Gateway or Dafa Travel and see what results you get.

Travel agencies will not get you cheaper airfare because whatever they find you they have to charge you there fees and taxes so they can make money off of the sale, so that wont work. Your best best to get the cheapest possible airline ticket is online and make sure to purchase your tickets 8-12 weeks before your departure to insure yourself the cheapest possible airline ticket. If you can’t do it then purchase your tickets ASAP before they go even higher.

Travel agencies need to make a profit off the service they provide to you, so buying your ticket from them is not necessarily a good value. However, if you have a complicated itenerary, they can help you manage your travels, and then the cost of their ticket might be worth it.

Like the other poster stated: do your homework online, purchase as far in advance as reasonable, and keep an eye on oil prices – that seems to be the metric for air ticket prices.

If you research your destination’s airport, you can probably find all the airlines that arrive there, then you can see which of those airlines can match your travel itenerary. Sometimes a national carrier is not the least expensive option.

Also, depending on your distance, you may want to consider a business class ticket; you might appreciate the comfort while flying and definitely when you arrive at destination.

    Good Luck!

i am not shure? they can compare prices but have to charge extra fees for doing it? if you also have hotels, car rental, and city tours. yes they might save you some? but again they have to charge for what they do! i would see what prices they charge and try to beat the deal yourself on computer?? good-luck

Technically they can..depends on the location u fly to since airlines do give out commissions.

However, you can still get a cheaper rate the agents by following this technique:
